17 new COVID-19 cases reported from Dhevvadhoo

17 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported from Dhevvadhoo in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

Speaking to PSM News, President of Dhevvadhoo Council Ibrahim Thaufeeq said out of the positive cases, 2 patients are identified as high risk. Thaufeeq said one patient has been transferred to Villingili COVID-19 facility. He revealed there are 4 children who tested positive for COVID-19 from the total 33 COVID-19 cases reported in the island.

Dhevvadhoo has been placed under monitoring after several cases of COVID-19 were detected from the island. Health Protection Agency (HPA) asked all individuals who have travelled from Dhevvadhoo to another island since November 30 to notify the agency. The agency has also urged such individuals to visit the nearest flu clinic to test for COVID-19.

HPA has also asked individuals who have travelled from Dhevvadhoo to another island within the past 14 days to quarantine themselves immediately for 14 days. The agency has asked such individuals to remain in quarantine until exit test results are confirmed negative.
