Maldives reports 50 new COVID-19 cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveals 50 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Maldives on January 11.

According to statistics of HPA, the 50 cases reported between 1800hrs of January 10 and 1800hrs of January 11 include 19 cases from the Greater Male’ Region, 3 cases from the atolls and 28 cases from resorts. Meanwhile, 29 new recoveries were reported on the same day.

With the new cases and recoveries reported, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to 14,159, while the number of recoveries from COVID-19 totals 13,365. There are a total of 738 active cases in the Maldives right now, including 54 patients requiring hospitalisation.

A total of 49 people have passed away from COVID-19 in the Maldives, including 41 Maldivians and 8 expatriates.
