GMTL resumes airport bus service

Greater Male’ Transport Link (GMTL) has resumed the bus service provided between Male’ and Velana International Airport (VIA).

GMTL had suspended its bus services between Male’ and VIA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. GMTL announced the airport bus operations have been resumed on January 10 with some changes to the service. As such, the company said the airport bus will be picking up passengers from the bus stop in the Alimas Carnival area in Male’. GMTL said the buses will arrive at the stop every one hour, adding the frequency of the service will be increased based on demand.

GMTL further stated special measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of passengers using its bus service. The company also asked passengers to adhere to the guidelines of Health Protection Agency (HPA) when travelling. As such, the company asked passengers not to travel if showing any flu-like symptoms.

GMTL, which is operated under Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), also provides bus services between Male’ and Hulhumale’. Due to increased demand, GMTL has been adding its bus routes and terminals.
