Ministry of Tourism has revealed 26 airlines are currently operating international flights to the Maldives.
According to the latest updates of the tourism ministry, the number of airlines operating international flights to the Maldives has increased from 14 in November to 26 by the end of December. Airlines operating to the Maldives include Aeroflot, Air India, British Airways, Edelweiss, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, SpicJet, Sri Lankan Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
Maldives reopened its borders for international operations on July 15, more than three months after borders were closed due to COVID-19. Since reopening borders, tourist arrivals have been increasing steadily in the Maldives. As a result, several international carriers have resumed scheduled flight operations to the Maldives.
According to the statistics of the tourism ministry, over 18,000 tourist arrivals have been recorded during the first six days of 2021. The ministry has set a target of recording 1.5 million arrivals by the end of the year.
