Proposed State Budget for 2021 submitted to the Parliament

Ministry of Finance has submitted the proposed State Budget for 2021 to the Parliament of the Maldives.

The finance ministry revealed the budget for next year has been submitted to the parliament on October 31. The ministry said details of the budget will be revealed during the Budget Statement delivered by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer. The finance ministry had earlier indicated the budget for 2021 would be around USD 2.27 billion.

Meanwhile, the ministry had also stated a revised budget would be proposed for this year, due to loss of state income following the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the ministry indicated a revised budget of USD 2 billion would be proposed for this year.
