Health Protection Agency (HPA) has specified 6 scenarios where individuals travelling from islands with guesthouse operations do not have to undergo quarantine.
In the revised guidelines on travelling from islands with active guesthouse operations, HPA stated individuals will be allowed to travel without quarantine in 6 scenarios. As such, individuals travelling for medical care (emergency, outpatient consultation and admissions), visiting a family member who is ill, banking services, school and education purposes, trade of food and other items (including agricultural produce, fish, and oil) and court summons will be exempted from undergoing the 14-day quarantine period.
HPA has mandated wearing masks in the islands which are resuming guesthouse operations. Further, HPA has prohibited visitors to the islands from visiting households
HPA publicised the amended guidelines following the decision of the administration to allow guesthouses in the atolls to reopen from October 15 onwards. However, hotels and guesthouses in the Greater Male’ Region will remain closed until further notice.
