WHO donates additional medical equipment to the Maldives

World Health Organisation (WHO) has handed over medical and laboratory items to Maldives in efforts to assist the fight to contain the spread of COVID-19.

At a ceremony held at Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC), the additional medical equipment was handed over to Acting Minister of Health; Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mouhamed Aslam by WHO Representative to the Maldives Dr. Arvind Mathur. The donation included portable X-ray, laboratory items, ICU equipment and additional COVID-19 test kits.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aslam acknowledged the assistance and endless support received from the WHO to the Maldives especially during the pandemic. He noted the donation will expand the COVID-19 related services across the Maldives.

WHO has been providing technical assistance and training to the Maldives in the efforts against COVID-19. WHO has pledged to continue assisting the Maldives in the fight against COVID-19.
