Sri Lankan Airlines increases commercial flights to the Maldives

Sri Lankan Airlines has decided to extend commercial flight operations to the Maldives.

Sri Lankan Airlines announced seven-weekly flights will be introduced effective from August 1, connecting London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan to the Maldives. The announcement was made commemorating the 55th Independence Day of the Maldives.

Sri Lankan Airlines commenced operations to Velana International Airport (VIA) on July 15 with the reopening of the international borders of the Maldives. Initially, Sri Lankan Airlines operated three-daily flights to VIA and three-weekly flights to Gan International Airport (GIA). Sri Lankan Airlines operated cargo flights to the Maldives although passenger operations were temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
