Maldives records 15th COVID-19 death

Health protection Agency (HPA) has revealed a 42-year-old Maldivian man has passed away from COVID-19.

HPA said the man had passed away at the DH11 Facility in Dharumavantha Hospital at approximately 1225hrs on July 16. This is the 15th COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives.

The first COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives was that of an 83-year-old Maldivian woman who passed away on April 29. The COVID-19 deaths recorded in the Maldives include 10 Maldivians, 4 Bangladeshis and 1 Filipino. The 42-year-old man who died from COVID-19 on July 16 is the youngest Maldivian to succumb to the disease.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has now risen to 2,831. This includes 481 active cases and 2,320 recoveries.
