World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated medical items to the Maldives in efforts to assist the fight to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The donation was handed over to Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen by WHO Representative to the Maldives Dr. Arvind Mathur. The donation consists medical and diagnostic items including ICU equipment and 10,000 COVID-19 test kits.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of State for Health Mohamed Zuhair acknowledged the assistance and endless support received from the WHO to the Maldives especially during the pandemic. Meanwhile, WHO Representative Dr. Arvind Mathur called on the public to follow the instructions and advises from the relevant authorities to successfully contain COVID-19 in the Maldives.
The WHO has been providing technical assistance and training to the Maldives in the efforts against COVID-19. WHO has pledged to continue assisting the Maldives in the fight against COVID-19.
