Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun laying asphalt on all the main roads of Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll.
MTCC said the road development project in the island involves formulating a detailed survey and design of asphalt pavements and construction of a storm water lift station including a gravity pipe network. MTCC added the project also includes the installation of street lights and speed breakers on the roads.
The project which is estimated to cost USD 2.5 million was awarded to MTCC on April 1, 2019. MTCC said the full support of the residents of the island will be required for the completion of the project as scheduled.
The road development project in Eydhafushi was previously conducted by the Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC). However, the project has been on halt for a long period of time after the MRDC was abolished.
