Eagle Hills showcases architectural plans for Hulhumalé residential project

Architectural designs for a major development scheme being undertaken in Hulhumalé by Eagle Hills have been unveiled, revealing housing units equipped with modern amenities, according to visual renderings of the site. Government officials noted that the initiative represents a crucial undertaking linked directly to national economic and social objectives. The development will, in every respect, elevate the standard of living for citizens, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated previously.

Addressing acute housing deficits that rank among the most pressing challenges facing the country, the USD 500 million project is planned to yield 5,000 housing units. The Abu Dhabi-based firm committed substantial capital to the Maldives following extensive research into local market demand and projected financial yields, officials explained, describing Eagle Hills as an enterprise that has executed large and successful investments internationally.

Developed under the Hulhumalé Phase III Vision Master Plan by the Singapore-based firm WOW Architects and Warner Wong Design, the renderings were made public on the social media platform X by Dr Abdulla Muththalib, the Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. Official details demonstrate that the master plan integrates high-rise residential towers, waterfront townhomes, and essential public services, designed to introduce modern transformations to urban island living in the Maldives.

Beyond the 5,000 residential units, the broader site will incorporate comprehensive modern services and facilities, according to the unveiled plans. Project visualisations indicate that the public layout will feature sports facilities, cafés, restaurants, recreational open spaces, gathering areas, retail outlets, and designated sea access points upon completion. The high-rise towers will integrate greenery across their terraces, with a large mosque to be constructed near the water.

Physical construction on the Hulhumalé site is scheduled to commence in early 2027. The scheme will provide Maldivians with spacious residential housing, new employment opportunities, and a modern environment, government officials stated. A commercial terms agreement has also been executed between Eagle Hills and the Maldivian government to develop a USD 20 billion waterfront and marina project in Rasmalé, alongside the USD 500 million development delivering multi-tiered housing units for citizens.

Projected by government figures to generate more than 54,000 jobs, the overarching development represents the single largest investment inflow entering the Maldives. Affording an international firm the opportunity to invest in Rasmalé aims primarily at facilitating the comprehensive development of the island, President Muizzu underscored previously. The initiative remains tied directly to employment growth and living standard advancement, the president observed, with job creation and new business enterprise formation intended to deliver economic progress across the citizenry.
