Maldives listed as a safe destination for German tourists

Germany has listed the Maldives as a safe destination for tourists to travel when borders reopen following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Germany prepared a list of 130 countries and regions with dangers of transmitting COVID-19. A special policy has been formulated to quarantine German tourists who return home from these countries.

Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed revealed the Maldives is one of the few countries not included in this list, adding the Maldives is also the only country in South Asia not on the list. He noted Germany listing the Maldives as a safe destination is a major boost to the efforts to bring back tourists to the country after reopening borders.
