Sri Lankan Airlines bring in 34 tonnes of cargo to the Maldives

The scheduled cargo flight of Sri Lankan Airlines has brought in 34 tonnes of goods to the Maldives.

Speaking to PSM News regarding the cargo brought from abroad, Managing Director of General Sales Agent of Sri Lankan Airlines in the Maldives, Ace Travel Maldives Private Limited Mohamed Firaq said fruits, vegetables, medical equipment and spare parts required for government offices are also carried on the cargo flights.

Sri Lankan Airlines operate cargo flights every Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday to the Maldives. Ace Travels revealed the number of flights will be increased considering the demand for cargo.

Before commencing scheduled cargo operations, Ace Travels operated chartered flights to bring cargo to the Maldives. In April, 9 cargo flights were operated by Sri Lankan Airlines to the Maldives while the number of cargo flights increased to 14 in May, with each cargo flight carrying about 18-28 tonnes of goods. Sri Lankan Airlines carry cargo from South Africa, Dubai, Jeddah and China among other markets.
