Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has revealed banks will be open for 3 days a week, starting from next week.
The central bank said during the period from June 1 to 13, banks will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 0930 hours to 1400 hours only for essential banking services amid the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region until May 28. While MMA will also be open during these hours, the central bank will not offer services to the general public during the lockdown period. However, MMA stated letters submitted through the government online platform GEMS will be accepted, adding forms and letters submitted via the designated email will also be accepted.
Despite the closure of government offices amid lockdown, banks have been operating twice a week to provide essential banking services without interruption.
