The national carrier, Maldivian, has brought in 5 tonnes of medical items from Chennai, India via its cargo freighter.
As part of the programme to ease the import of items to the Maldives amid the restrictions due to COVID-19, the national carrier operated a flight to Chennai and Trivandrum on May 27. From Trivandrum, Maldivian carried 13 tonnes of fruits and vegetables.
Maldivian commenced international cargo flight operations on March 29. Maldivian expects to increase the number of flights considering the demand for charters from businesses to bring cargo.
