467 resort employees placed in transit quarantine facilities

Ministry of Tourism has stated 467 resort employees are currently in transit quarantine facilities before being allowed to return to their home islands.

The tourism ministry revealed efforts are underway to transport resort employees who were transiting in Male’ City in order to return to their home islands when the lockdown was imposed in the capital. As such, the ministry stated 582 resort employees registered to return home amid the lockdown, while 80 of them were removed from the list after cross-checking their information. The ministry added the remaining 502 individuals are currently waiting to be transported, with 467 of them currently undergoing the mandatory 14-day period in transit quarantine facilities.

In the statement, the tourism ministry highlighted the sacrifice being made by resort employees amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The ministry also thanked the management and staff of resorts for the support and cooperation provided to the authorities during these difficult times.
