Shops in Fuvahmulah to be closed until May 17, delivery services permitted

Fuvahmulah City Council has extended the closure of shops until May 17.

Initially, the council ordered to close the shops in the city from April 23 to May 3. Following the expiration of the initial order, the council has decided to extend the closure of shops until May 17.

The city council stated shops can only provide delivery services, as part of the restrictive measures imposed against the spread of COVID-19. The council said preventive measures are imposed to prevent an outbreak in the city.

Following the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has been imposing several control measures across the country to curb the spread of the disease. In this regard, travelling between islands has been prohibited, while all prayer congregations have also been banned.
