South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) has extended its online voting until October amid the COVID-19 global crisis.
According to the organisers of the awards, High Rise Maldives, online voting for SATA nominees are carried out via its website. High Rise revealed SATA has received over 1,000 nominations for over 40 categories with hotels and hospitality service providers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka competing for the most prestigious hospitality service recognition award in the region. SATA had postponed its jury evaluation due to the COVID-19 crisis while it is progressing to do the evaluation virtually.
SATA has been endorsed by multiple regional and national bodies. SATA has been recognising the best of South Asia's hospitality and travel industry since 2016.
The prestigious annual event honours stellar organisations and individuals in a wide array of categories. SATA aims to encourage and raise service standards within the regions of the tourism industry.
The first edition of SATA was held during 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The 2017 edition was held in Addu City Equatorial Village, Maldives followed by the 2018 edition in Mumbai, India. The most recent edition was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
