BML to provide all of its services online

Bank of Maldives (BML) has stated all of its services will be provided online during the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region until May 1.

BML stated services such as local transfers, payroll and telegraphic transfer (TT) would be available online despite the shutdown of services from its branches. BML requested customers seeking TT services to submit the application via email, along with the required documents. The national bank said applications need to be submitted before 1100hrs to be able to process it on the same day.

Furthermore, BML said application for payroll services can also be submitted online, with the required documents. The details of the required documents can be found on the website of the bank.

In addition, BML said cheques deposited through ATMs before 1130hrs will be processed the same day, while any cheques deposited after that will be processed the next day. The national bank said cash deposit and withdrawal services will be available for permitted individuals until April 20. The bank said up to USD 13,000 can be deposited to business accounts, while up to USD 3,200 can be deposited to personal accounts.

BML said the main priority during this period is to ensure the safety of its staff and customers. The bank said all of its branches and service centres will be closed during the lockdown, in order to encourage staying home and seeking services online.

Meanwhile, Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has announced it will be open from 0830hrs to 1230hrs for customers seeking cash withdrawal, cash deposit, fund transfer and payroll services. The bank said withdrawal and deposit services will be available at the main branch, while trade finance services will be available at the head office of the bank.

MIB has requested customers withdrawing amounts less than USD 1,300 to use ATMs.
