State Trading Organisation (STO) has revealed it has sufficient stock of staples required for the Maldives, stating the stock available will be enough for the increasing demand in the coming month of Ramadan.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Hussain Amr said STO is working tirelessly to attend to the challenges faced by the public amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Amr said STO has increased its stocks recently and all storage facilities in Male' City are currently full. He further said STO has recently emptied a constriction warehouse in Hulhumale' to store the staples purchased.
Additionally, the managing director stated over 100 containers of staples have also arrived in Maldives and staff are working 24 hours to clear the goods from Male' Commercial Harbour. He refuted the false reports that the Maldives may soon run out of staples and food stock and called on the media to spread the truth to refrain from creating panic by spreading false information.
