15 COVID-19 cases identified in Male' City

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Male' City has risen to 15.

HPA revealed MAV34 is a direct contact of MAV27 while MAV33 is a direct contact of MAV28. The agency stated the patients are being transferred to an isolation facility. Moreover, HPA revealed samples were taken from MAV32, a Bangladeshi national who was a direct contact of MAV30, has also tested positive for COVID-19.

The active cases include a 42-year old pregnant woman, her husband, and her child.

Earlier, two more individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 in Male' City. In this regard, samples taken from a Maldivian who was a direct contact of MAV27 and samples taken from a Maldivian who was a direct contact of MAV28 have also tested positive for COVID-19.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to 35, including the 14 Maldivians and the foreigner who has tested positive for COVID-19 in Male' City. The remaining cases were reported from resorts, safaris, and individuals who have travelled to the Maldives from abroad and are undergoing the 14-day mandatory quarantine period.

So far, 16 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives, with a further 17 Maldivians undergoing treatment in the country and two foreigners undergoing treatment abroad.

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) is conducting contact tracing of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 in the capital city. NEOC has urged the public to inform HPA if an individual is known to have contact with the positive cases and to seek medical attention if they are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
