Ban on all excursion activities extended

Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru has extended the period of the temporary ban placed on all excursion activities within Maldives.

The director general signed and publicised an announcement banning all excursion activities from islands, resorts, safaris and guesthouses throughout the country effective from March 22 till further notice.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) initially publicised a notice banning all excursion activities on March 13 for a period of 10 days. HPA extended the period of the ban placed on all excursion activities as the initial period came to end.

The measures were taken under the powers vested in the Director General of Public Health by section 34 of the Public Health Act, as a preventive measure against the COVID-19 pandemic.
