High Commission of India in Maldives has stated Maldivians seeking to visit India with a compelling reason will be provided visa despite India imposing travel restrictions on all countries.
A statement published by the government of India stated all existing visas issued to nationals of any country, except those issued to diplomats, officials, international organisations, employment and project visas, stand suspended till April 15, 2020. The statement also revealed any foreign national who intends to travel to India for compelling reasons may contact the nearest Indian Mission for visa.
Following the ease on restrictions, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid thanked the Indian High Commission for the closeness extended for Maldivians and for the assurance the temporary measure is taken under very special circumstances.
