Former President Yameen's residence searched in his presence

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has taken former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to his residence for a search operation.

The former president was taken to his house for a requirement of the police for an additional case being investigated. Yameen was taken to his residence after the appeal trial at High Court to overturn the Criminal Court verdict over money laundering. He was taken back to Maafushi Prison following the one hour search operation.

During the hearing, the state answered the detailed appeal points submitted on behalf of the former president. 75 appeal points have been explained to the judges' bench from the defence lawyers. The next hearing is scheduled for March 21.

Yameen was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of acquiring USD 1 million for personal use from the MMPRC corruption scandal and laundering the money.
