President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated appropriate measures will be taken based on the findings of the Commission on Corruption and Asset Recovery, once the investigations are concluded and the final report is compiled by the end of the month.
Speaking on the progress of the investigations conducted by the asset recovery commission, President Solih said he has received the first draft report of the investigation, adding the appropriate measures will be taken based on the findings.
The president formed the commission for the investigation of corruption and recovery of state assets lost between January 1, 2012 and November 17, 2018. The commission opened the opportunity to submit cases in January 2019.
The biggest case investigated by the commission is the embezzlement of state funds through Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
