Election Commission of Maldives (ECM) has decided to take draws of candidacy numbers in the respective constituencies.
ECM said the draws for the upcoming local council elections and the women's development committee elections will be taken on March 4. While the draws for island councils will be taken in islands, draws for atoll councils will be taken in the capital of the atoll. Draws for the city councils will also follow suit and be taken in cities.
ECM has announced that a total of 2,435 have submitted application forms to contest in the upcoming local council elections while 1,817 are contesting in the women's development committee elections. A total of 269,562 people are eligible to vote in the elections scheduled to be held on April 4.
