Foreign Minister reaffirms commitment of Maldives to protect and promote human rights

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has reaffirmed the commitment of Maldives to the promotion and protection of human rights. The minister made the statement during a meeting held with the Human Rights High Commissioner of UN Michelle Bachelet in the sidelines of the ongoing 43rd Session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meeting held at the UN Office in Geneva, Minister Shahid shared the details of the administration’s efforts to promote and protect human rights. Thanking the commissioner for the continuous assistance provided to Maldives, the minister reaffirmed the commitment of Maldives in promoting and protecting human rights.

In addition to High Commissioner Bachelet, the foreign minister also met with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Seychelles Barry Faure and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani. During the meetings, discussions were held on strengthening bilateral relations with the two countries.
