The diplomatic missions of Maldives in member states of Commonwealth have been renamed as high commissions, following the readmission of Maldives to Commonwealth.
During a ceremony held today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid unveiled the new sign board of the Maldivian High Commission in London, UK. The ceremony was also attended by Secretary General of Commonwealth Patricia Scotland and the Majority Leader of the Parliament of Maldives Ali Azim.
Furthermore, ceremonies were held at the high commissions of Maldives in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore to unveil new sign boards. The ceremonies were attended by diplomats of the respective countries and representatives of Commonwealth.
Maldives was officially readmitted to Commonwealth on February 1, 2020, becoming the 54th member state of the organisation.
