Maldives keen to enhance ties with Bangladesh: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated Maldives is keen to enhance the existing bilateral ties with Bangladesh. The president made the remark during the farewell call of the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Maldives Rear Admiral Akhtar Habib, held this morning at the President’s Office.

During the call, President Solih conveyed greetings and good wishes to the ambassador and expressed gratitude for the immense support extended to the Maldivian community by Bangladesh during the ambassador's tenure. The president extended his gratitude and good wishes to the Bangladeshi government for the continuous support and assistance provided to Maldives in various developmental sectors. He also expressed interest in further bolstering existing ties to work together to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest to the two countries.

Speaking at the call, Ambassador Habib expressed his delight in having contributed positively to Maldives and admired the commitment of the administration to develop the nation. The ambassador particularly applauded the efforts of the administration on legalizing undocumented expatriate workers.

The call ended with the president wishing the ambassador success in all his future endeavours.
