Supreme Court restores registrar’s authorities

Supreme Court of Maldives has restored the authorities of the court’s registrar in granting permits to submit cases to the court.

Supreme Court said handing the registrar’s authorities on granting case submission permits to the judges had been done in violation of Clause 24 of the Judicature Act. Hence, the court said Clause 57, Subsection A of the Supreme Court regulations has now been annulled, restoring the registrar’s authority on granting permits to submit cases to the court.

With the amendment to the regulations, the Registrar of Supreme Court will be making decisions on permitting cases to be submitted to the court.
