President Muizzu Meets Maldivian Community In Singapore During State Visit

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed have met with members of the Maldivian community residing in Singapore during their state visit to the country.

The meeting was held at the Ritz-Carlton Garden Pavilion in Singapore, where the President engaged with the community, inquired about their wellbeing, and listened to their concerns.

Addressing the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel noted that President Muizzu places great importance on meeting and engaging with Maldivians abroad during his international visits. He stated that the President encourages all Maldivians oversees to uphold moral values and contribute to the Maldives’ reputation.

"The world is evolving and the mindset of the Maldivian society is also changing. Maldivians are moving abroad to educate their children, get their own education and employment, to live a peaceful life in a peaceful environment. Sometimes, difficulties may arise. However, it is important for each individual to conduct themselves with good character and uphold the good name of the Maldives,” the Minister said.

The Foreign Minister added that the President's visit to Singapore has been a successful one, where important discussions were held and agreements that will benefit the people of the Maldives were signed.

The meeting was followed by a dinner hosted by the President and First Lady in honour of the community.

The President has been meeting with the people of the countries during his official visits abroad. The President and First Lady are currently in Singapore on a state visit from 29 June to 2 July 2025 at the special invitation of Singapore’s President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam. This marks his first official visit to Singapore since taking office.
