Parliament to reconvene on February 3

The first sitting of the Parliament of Maldives for 2020 is set to be held on February 3.

The first sitting of the year will include the presidential address by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The day has been set as a public holiday by the administration.

The presidential address is mandated for the first sitting of the parliament for every year, under Article 84 of the Constitution of Maldives. The purpose of the address is to state the main issues faced by the country and ways to resolve them.
