Ministry of Finance has called on all government offices to adhere to the approved budgets in managing office expenditure.
In a circular, the finance ministry instructed all offices to follow the policy on reallocating the budget approved by the parliament. Clause 5 of the policy instructs offices not to overspend the approved budgets. It also asks the offices to use an amount not exceeding 5% of the approved budget in case a contingency budget is necessary. The contingency budget is also to be used with the approval of the finance minister.
According to the finance ministry, the purpose of the circular is to clarify doubts offices have on using state funds approved by the parliament. All state offices, except for councils, must adhere to the circular in managing approved funds.
