Ambassadors of Argentina, Cyprus and Netherlands present credentials to the President

The ambassadors newly appointed to Maldives by the governments of Argentina, Cyprus and Netherlands have presented their credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The ambassadors presented their credentials to President Solih at separate ceremonies held at the President’s Office this morning.

Meeting with Ambassador of Argentina to Maldives Daniel Chuburu, President Solih highlighted that blue economy initiatives were a particular area of focus under the administration’s strategic action plan and expressed his interest in partnering with Argentina in advancing such interests and to build a fruitful trade relationship between the two countries.

Discussions with President Solih and Ambassador Chuburu were also focused on strengthening tourism cooperation, pursuing green energy products, and promoting South-South Cooperation with Argentina through the Argentine Fund for South-South and Triangular Cooperation (FOAR).

During the president’s meeting with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Maldives Agis Loizou, President Solih expressed hopes of building a closer trade and development partnership between the two counties, especially in the areas of tourism, environment and climate change.

Speaking with Ambassador of Netherlands to Maldives Tanja Gonggrijp, President Solih noted the two countries enjoy close diplomatic relations that date back 40 years. He also highlighted the number of tourist arrivals from the Netherlands and expressed his confidence that the number would increase in the years to come.

Speaking further, President Solih and Ambassador Gonggrijp discussed ways to enhance cooperation in a multitude of areas of mutual concern, including environment and climate change and increasing trade and commerce between the two nations.
