Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has officially launched its Aviation Institute of Maldives (AIM) to provide professional aviation training.
The institute was officially inaugurated at a ceremony held at the Hulhule’ Island Hotel by the Maldives National University Chancellor Dr Mahmood Shougee, alongside MACL’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef and other top officials.
The institute’s first batch graduated at the launch ceremony, with 29 students completing the Airport Security Management Course. The course is a Level 3 certificate programme, designed in line with the National Qualifications Framework and the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA)’s standards. The course was conducted from 1 June to 9 September 2025.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shareef said AIM is intended to develop the skilled professionals needed for the aviation sector and reflects MACL’s long-term commitment to workforce development.
In his address, Dr Shougee recognised MACL’s efforts to build an educated and skilled generation in the Maldives.
The Security Management Course was designed to train new MACL estate security employees. The programme aims to strengthen passenger safety and security at Velana International Airport.
Top-performing students were recognised during the ceremony.
