DDCom forwards charges against Shaheem for providing false information

The Commission on Investigation of Murders and Enforced Disappearances (DDCom) has forwarded charges against former Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed for providing false information to the investigation of the murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

The charges against the former Islamic Minister were forwarded by DDCom to the Prosecutor General (PG) today. Shaheem is being accused of providing a false statement to the commission and obstructing the investigation. He has denied these allegations, stating it is an attempt to destroy his political career.

DDCom has also forwarded charges against Mohamed Mazeed and Saamith Mohamed, who have been described in the investigation report as the leading perpetrators of the murder.

The former parliamentarian and religious scholar Dr. Afrasheem Ali was found brutally murdered near the staircase of his home on October 2, 2012.
