President reaffirms commitment to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uphold the rights, well-being and dignity of persons with disabilities. The president made the statement in a message sent to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

In his tweet, President Solih said the country celebrates the many contributions made to every field of human endeavour by persons with disabilities. He said the administration remains committed to upholding their rights, well-being and dignity at all times.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is marked annually on December 3. The day is marked promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

This year, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities focuses on the empowerment of persons with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development as anticipated in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
