Tourist arrivals increase in October

Ministry of Tourism has revealed tourist arrivals in Maldives increased by 15.4 percent in October 2019, compared to October 2018.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed said over 1.393 million tourists have visited Maldives by the end of October 2019. He added that 141,928 tourists had visited during the month of October, which is a 15.4 percent increase compared to October 2018.

Over 1.5 million tourist arrivals have been recorded this year, with the 1.5 millionth arrival recorded on November 24.
The government has set a target of recording 2 million arrivals next year. The government also targets to record an annual tourist arrival of 2.5 million by the end of its five-year term.
