Judges appointed to High Court take oath

The two judges appointed to the High Court of Maldives by Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken oath of justices.

Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi administered the oath for Judge Hathif Hilmy and Hussain Mazeed at a function held at JSC. The Letters of Appointment were handed over to the judges by President of JSC and Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef. The function was attended by a number of JSC members and High Court judges.

Prior to their new appointment, Hathif and Mazeed were judges at the Civil Court of Maldives.

JSC said 12 judges submitted nominations for the vacant positions at High Court. The announcement seeking judges for High Court was made following the amendments made to the Judicature Act in 2017 to increase the number of judges to 11. There are currently 9 judges on the bench at High Court.
