Foreign Minister meets world leaders on the side-lines of NAM Summit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has met with several heads of states and foreign ministers on the side-lines of the Heads of State and Government Summit of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

On the side-lines of the summit, Foreign Minister Shahid met with leaders and officials from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Qatar, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Jordan, Cuba, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan. The minister met with South Asian and East Asian leaders including President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, Prime Minister of Nepal Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahatir Mohamed and Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu to discuss bilateral issues and strengthen further relations with the respective countries. He also interacted with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

Foreign Minister Shahid also met with his counterparts on the sidelines of the NAM Summit, including First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Khusrav Nоziri, Foreign Minister of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office of Laos Alounkeo Kittikhoun and Foreign Minister of Cuba Bruno Rodriquez. He also met with Elmar Mammadyarov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, host country of the NAM Summit and congratulated him on the Presidency of NAM and assured him of full support in working together to strengthen bilateral ties in a number of areas.

Foreign Minister Shahid travelled to Baku for the summit on behalf of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
