Further collaboration with Maldives will boost economic ties: UAE

UAE have affirmed strengthening collaboration with Maldives will further assist in boosting economic ties between the two countries. The remarks were made by Ambassador of the UAE to Maldives Dr Saeed Mohamed Ali Al Shamsi during a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.

During the meeting held at the President's Office, the ambassador noted the UAE is ready to assist Maldives in its developmental endeavors. The ambassador accentuated on the efforts to initiate work at the newly established UAE Embassy in Maldives. He noted many Maldivians seek employment at the UAE from the shipping industry to the tourism sector.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Naseem congratulated the ambassador on his appointment as the first resident Ambassador of the UAE to Maldives. The vice president further highlighted the administration is working on numerous developmental mega projects and stressed the importance given on the development of the education sector and the standardisation of healthcare across the nation to promote equity amongst its citizens. He also spoke on the importance of establishing elderly care facilities and fostering empathy amongst the people towards the elderly and persons with disabilities.

On conclusion, the vice president thanked the ambassador for the continued assistance and support from the UAE to Maldives. The ambassador, in turn, expressed his eagerness to work alongside the Government of Maldives in further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
