President appoints Fareedha to National Pay Commission

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Aishath Fareedha to the National Pay Commission (NPC). With the appointment of Fareedha, all five-positions of the NPC has now been occupied.

Previously, NPC has revealed the amendments to the salary structure have now been identified in efforts to deliver equal wage. NPC said it is now reviewing the amendments to be made to the salary structure.

The commission said the amendments will be implemented with the assistance of international experts. NPC is conducting surveys and studies to implement the guidelines set by National Pay Policy Act.

NPC is a body established under National Pay Policy Act, required to determine a mandatory standard for the authorities which the constitution has vested the powers of determining the salary and benefit of the public servants, and benefit given in resignation from or termination of employment or tenure of membership, determine the salary and benefit, and benefit given in resignation from or termination of employment or tenure of membership of those determined by an act of parliament.

NPC comprises of 5 members appointed by the president, and is chaired by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer.
