Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has submitted a motion to dismiss Vice President of Civil Service Commission (CSC) Shaheed Mohamed.
The motion seeks to dismiss Shaheed Mohamed as he is understood to have been elected as a member disregarding the criteria and qualifications required to become a member of an independent institution. Following deliberations, members of the committee decided to pass a motion to dismiss him.
Shaheed Mohamed was elected to CSC on November 29, 2015 during the presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. He was elected as Vice President of CSC on October 10, 2017.
The parliamentary committee is also investigating allegations of corruption against member of Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) Moosa Ali Kaleyfaanu. A motion to dismiss him has also been submitted.
