Maldives have broken the Guinness World Record for most people free diving simultaneously.
The world record-breaking free diving event was organised by Ministry of Tourism as part of World Tourism Day 2019 celebrations. The event took place in the lagoon of Baros Maldives.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih joined 520 others in simultaneous free diving in the lagoon of the resort, staying underwater for around 30 seconds. World champion free diver Willian Trubridge, a double world record holding free diver from New Zealand also participated in the event.
Officials from Guinness declared the event as a new world record and presented the official certificate to President Solih.
Torri del Benaco in the Province of Verona previously held the world record for the most people free diving simultaneously on October 11 2009 with 280 people.
