President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has instructed Ministry of Finance to oversee the provision of financial assistance to those affected following the tragic fire incident in Male' City.
President Solih presided over an emergency session of the cabinet at the Official Residence of the President, late Friday night. During the meeting, the cabinet discussed measures on preventing such tragedies in the future.
Discussions also focused on the relief efforts, with a decision to involve the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other relevant authorities in providing temporary shelter for the affected.
The cabinet also decided on the swift implementation of a plan to relocate warehouses which store dangerous and hazardous chemicals away from residential areas.
