Dr. Jameel's case pending due to inability to convene party council: JP

Jumhooree Party (JP) has announced the disciplinary case against former president Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed is pending a decision due to the inability to convene party council.

Chief Spokesperson of JP Ali Solih said, as Jameel is the Advisor to JP President Gasim Ibrahim, a decision on a disciplinary case filed against him would be deliberated on by the party council. A disciplinary case was filed against Jameel for participating in political activities with former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The case was filed on September 8, 2019. Since then, a party council has not been convened and the party leader has been abroad. This month, Jameel travelled to some islands in South Alifu atoll with former president Yameen and participated in some political activities of opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Jameel has also harshly criticized the current administration regardless of the fact that JP is a member of the ruling coalition.
