The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun practical work on the Kelaa and Henbadhoo harbour projects.The project in Kelaa in North Haa atoll includes, reclaiming 1.7 hectares of land, building a breakwater wall of 3.5 meters and a revetment of 220 meters.
A pavement path of 1445 meters for pedestrians would also be developed under the project. The harbour project, worth USD 954,801 is expected to be completed within 240 days.The harbour project of Henbadhoo in Noonu atoll includes reclaiming a land area of 4.46 hectares from the lagoon, building a breakwater wall of 223 meters and a revetment of 86 meters and building a pavement area of 1015 meters.
The project will cost USD 1,727,736 and is expected to be completed within a period of 300 days. Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) have been carried out for the projects.
