A rehabilitation programme named "Hope" has been launched at Maafushi Prison for inmates serving sentences over drug related cases. The programme initiated by Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) will be continued for a period of 6 months.
The programme was initiated as part of the efforts of the administration to introduce inmates to the society as well disciplined individuals by assisting them to leave behind the drug addictions. The programme which began with 100 inmates was inaugurated by the Chief of Staff at President’s Office Ali Zahir.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz stated the aim of MCS is to ensure all inmates who undergo the programme to improve their discipline and be accepted by the society.
