President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam to be in charge of the Maldivian pilgrims who will be travelling to Makkah for the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
Every year, the president appoints a head of pilgrims to overlook and provide necessary assistance on behalf of the administration.
The Government of Saudi Arabia granted 2,000 slots for Maldivians to perform Hajj this year. The first group of pilgrims departed to Saudi Arabia on July 21 and multiple groups from Maldives will be travelling to Saudi Arabia until August 5.
